Karina Tarte  - Member Services
Karina was born and raised in Vermont.  She currently works full-time as a Veterinary Technician at a local animal hospital.  When not working at the hospital or here at Midd Fit you will often find Karina working out in the gym!

Adela Langrock  - Group Fitness Instructor
Adela teaches a popular RaisedBARRE class at Middlebury Fitness and currently works full-time for Middlebury College.   When not teaching her own class you will often find Adela in a Body Pump or Spin class!  

Janet Morrison - Group Fitness Instructor
Janet has been a Certified Spin instructor at Middlebury Fitness since 2002. After a career-related hiatus from the gym, she is thrilled to be back in the saddle again! She's also a Raised Barre and Body Pump enthusiast. Hiking, running, and boating on Lake Champlain, spending time with her adult children and partner Al, and traveling to her native Nova Scotia rounds out her spare time.

Allison Martin  - Member Services

Alison was born and raised in Vermont.  She has three children and is currently going back to school to get a degree in Human Services while also working full-time at Porter Hospital.  In her spare time Alison enjoys kayaking, hiking, cooking and spending time with family!

Tom McQuade  - Certified Personal Trainer
ACE Certified Trainer

​Tom’s fitness journey started at SUNY Cortland, where he went to college and focused on Sports Medicine. He was an athletic trainer for both the Men’s Rugby Team and the Women’s Gymnastics Team. From there, he joined the United States Navy as a Navy Medical Corpsman and was stationed at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton, CA as an EMT.  Tom’s career interests have been diverse and he has always incorporated fitness into his life. An avid long-distance hiker, he completed the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Colorado Trail, Long Trail, and Northville Placid Trail. He built a kayak with a buddy and they kayaked 450 miles down the Yukon River. With another friend, he biked from Washington, DC to Florida. Lily Hunt - Group Fitness Instructor
Certified Raisedbarre® Instructor
Lily grew up in Middlebury and graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2005. After college Lily lived in San Francisco for 9 years where she became an avid fan of bar fitness classes and practiced The Bar Method for 6 years. Lily returned to Vermont to raise her children in her hometown.  She teaches Raisedbarre®, works for Middlebury College and when she is not working or teaching Barre she enjoys running, hiking and spending time with her family.

Gail Isenberg - Group Fitness Instructor
Gail has been a fitness instructor at Middlebury Fitness for 10 years. She currently leads a Senior Fitness class. Gail has a BS in music education, MS in counseling and a Ph.D. in psychology.  Interests include aviation, women's barbershop, learning Chinese, theater, biking and running.  A mother of two adult sons, Gail just completed her first half-marathon.

Janice Rushton - Member Services / Group FItness
Janice graduated in 1998 from the University of Maine- Presque Isle with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. In 2008 she became a Spinning Instructor and obtained a certificate in Swedish massage. Currently she teaches Spinning at Midd Fit and enjoys running, nordic skiing, photography and spending quality time with her husband Jerrod and their two beautiful daughters.

Jimmy Wells -  Certified Personal Trainer

Jerrod Rushton -  Owner / President

Jerrod purchased Middlebury Fitness in 2012 and has over 24 years in fitness management.   Jerrod graduated from the University of Maine - Presque Isle in 1997 and holds a B.S. degree in Recreation Management with a concentration in Business.  Jerrod has served on many community boards, most recently as President of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Addison County.  Jerrod lives in Cornwall with his wife Janice and two daughters.   Hobbies include include cycling, hiking, running, kayaking, skiing & soccer.

Vanessa Dunleavy  -  Group Fitness Instructor
Certified Yoga Instructor
Vanessa Dunleavy is a movement, meditation and 500 hour certified yoga teacher with 15 years of experience. A native Vermonter, she found yoga while working as a professional singer-dancer in New York City. In 2021, she moved back to her hometown of Middlebury to raise her family, and now she’s thrilled to be teaching in the community that raised her. Vanessa’s classes range from seated meditations to high energy yoga & dance fusions. Vanessa believes everyone can find a physical practice that nourishes their unique body in all the right ways. She works to help individuals find that for themselves. A true renaissance woman, Vanessa is also a certified Thai Masseuse, and the co-author of two original musicals: Showing Up and My Post Traumatic Cruise Ship Cabaret. Mikayla Farnsworth  - Member Services
Mikayla was born and raised in Vermont.  She has been a long time Midd Fit member and is currently pursuing a degree as a Dental Hygenist.  

Lynne Peck - Group Fitness Instructor
Lynne has been a group fitness instructor at Middlebury Fitness since inception in 1997.  She teaches Spinning, Step and Strength classes and enjoys a variety of activities including water skiing, hiking and biking. 

Logan Tonini  -  Certified Personal Trainer
NASM Certified Trainer

Logan is originally from Houston Texas where he grew up playing lot's of sports, swimming, and camping with his local scout troop. Today, Logan lives with his wife in Middlebury where he studies Physics, Spanish, and Portuguese, and plays football for Middlebury College as an offensive Lineman. As an NASM certified personal trainer, Logan enjoys working with other fitness enthusiasts to create a healthy and energetic lifestyle through diet, mindfulness, and exercise focused on overall strength and fitness.Working with Logan, you can expect an intense but fun workout individually designed to help you be the best overall you, you can be. Whether it be for athletic competition or the rigors of life, Logan is excited to help you reach your full potential.

Eloise Berdahl-Baldwin  - Group Fitness Instructor
Hello! My name is Eloise, and I am excited to be offering my Barre Pilates class at Middlebury Fitness this Spring. I graduated from Middlebury College this February with a degree in History and Spanish. I am living in Vergennes until I start a teaching job in New Mexico this June. I love barre and have been taking classes since I was in 8th grade. In 2017, I became a trained instructor and taught classes at Middlebury College for two years. I am passionate about making fitness more accessible and strive to create a welcoming atmosphere in my classes. I am so excited to get back to the studio! 

Bella Seissen  - Member Services

Bella joined the team in January of 2022 is currently pursuing a career in nursing.  Bella is a lifelong Vermonter and currently resides in Salisbury.

Kristen Ginsburg  - Certified Personal Trainer
Group Fitness Instructor
Kristen holds a M.A. in Education, B.S. in Psychology and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.  After a thorough assessment, Kristen offers a personalized and holistic program to help her clients achieve their fitness goals. Courtney grew up in Leicester, VT and currently attends the University of New Hampshire.    When not in school Courtney enjoys spending time with family and friends.  

Kristi Myers  - Group Fitness Instructor

Kristi has a degree in Exercise Science and is a Physical Therapist Assistant.  She enjoys lifting weights and exploring many other forms of fitness, and has been personal training and teaching group exercise for 14 years. Currently she is certified as a Personal Trainer, Zumba Fitness, Strong by Zumba, and Raised Barre.  Kristi teaches virtual classes for Midd FIt and currently resides in Utah with her husband, Dave, and son Jackson.

Esther Palmer - Group Fitness Instructor

Esther moved to Middlebury from New York City, currently instructs a popular Yoga class at Midd Fit and is the owner of mov/ed.   Esther spent years teaching a "strong vinyasa flow," while also adding new healing tools to her teaching toolbox: resources for healing injuries to the physical body, affronts to identity, and complex pain from trauma.  She says she always been drawn to the healing side of movement, yoga, and meditation, and this is present in all of my teaching (even when I'm leading "movement as exercise"!).  

Tamara Chase - Program Director
Certified Body Pump®, Spinning and Raisedbarre® Instructor

Tamara is an attorney and fitness instructor who has been leading group fitness in our community since 1984.  Tamara currently instructs Spinning® , Body Pump® and Raisedbarre®.   Tamara graduated from the University of Vermont and Northeastern University School of Law and takes great pleasure in sharing her love of fitness with all the wonderful people she has the pleasure of teaching.

Jeanette teaches Cardio Dance and Body Pump at Middlebury Fitness and takes great pride in  encouraging members to maintain healthy, active lifestyles in a fun and energetic environment.   Jeanette lives on Lake Dunmore and enjoys cycling and numerous other outdoor activities.

Kate Ripley -  Member Services
Certified Personal Trainer

Kate joined the team in May of 2019 after being a member for several years.  She is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Body Pump Instructor and holds a Degree in Business from Castleton State University.  Kate has a real passion for health and fitness, a super friendly personality and enjoys interacting with members.
